Hookline Fish Company is owned and operated by Skip Card, a Northwest native who moved from Tacoma in Manhattan in 2003. Skip was surprised to learn most New Yorkers thought “smoked salmon” meant cold-smoked nova or lox, not the delicious hot-smoked salmon his family used to make in a backyard smoker. So Skip ordered some fish-smoking equipment and finely ground alder chips, and he began making Northwest-style smoked salmon at a cabin near Woodstock, NY.

Friends loved it. Even total strangers loved it. The delicate flesh of Northwest-style smoked salmon is firm yet moist, and flavored with a perfect blend of smoke, salt and light brown sugar. New Yorkers who had been raised on bland lox were shocked to learn smoked salmon could be so delicious. They encouraged Skip to go into business. Hookline Fish Company is the result.
